Plan for the Hertford Arts Hub

Welcome to the Hertford Arts Hub (HAH). We’re very excited to launch the next phase of our development which will culminate in a purpose-built centre for the visual arts on the Old School site in Dimsdale Street.

What is Hertford Arts Hub?

The Hertford Arts Hub will provide an umbrella organisation for all arts clubs, groups, galleries, events and attractions within Hertford. It will have studio, gallery and office space, and will also house a permanent Alan Davie exhibition which will not only attract the attention of art enthusiasts but also tourism and an education programme for students.

It will add significant value to the town’s lively annual calendar of food festivals, music events, art exhibitions and open days.

Alan Davie and the Let Us Leap Festival

HAH has secured funding from the Arts Council for a temporary exhibition of paintings by renowned local artist Alan Davie as part of the Let Us Leap Festival being held on 16th and 17th June. The Davie exhibition will be held between 15th June and 14th July at the White Hart Development site on Hartham Lane.

Scottish-born abstract painter Alan Davie lived and worked in Hertford for five decades until his death at the age of 93. He was internationally renowned for combining his talents as a poet, jazz musician and jewellery maker with his art, and this combination of disciplines is the perfect inspiration for the new cultural centre that will also house a permanent exhibition of his work.
