What is a Draw Jam?

Draw Jam is a public drop-in event from 11.00am–4.00pm on Sunday 17th June. It will take place in the grounds of Hertford Castle and is a part of the Let Us Leap Festival, celebrating Alan Davie.

Michael’s workshop

Suitable for everyone, whatever your age or ability, and is a chance to get involved in a fun activity involving imaginative improvisation. Simply drop by at any time between 11.00am-4.00pm and make your contribution to our large mural composition.

Need to know information

  • This is a drawing and painting mural workshop with Michael Wright, Fine Art Tutor at the University of Hertfordshire School of Creative Arts.
  • You will be working in small groups of 2, 3 or 4.
  • Groups will choose a theme of dreaming, falling, flying, conflict or harmony. You’ll then take it in turn to trace round each other in different positions, then paint over the lines to create an expressive composition of shapes and patterns.
  • At the end of the day, the individual compositions will be joined together to create a large mural composition.
  • All materials will be provided.

The Draw Jam is a community event and suitable for everyone with a love of art, whatever your age or ability.

It’s a free event and will be great fun, so we hope to see you there!
