Laura Hudson is a cross-disciplinary artist, curator and writer currently working between drawing and painting.
Born in County Durham, at the age of twelve Laura moved to a town just west of Grangemouth in Scotland, where Alan Davie was born. She attended Edinburgh college of art and, like Davie, struggled with the traditional and very formal methods of teaching and so transferred to Glasgow School of Art where she studied Environmental Art (BA 1989) and went on to study Artist Moving Image at Central St. Martins London (PGDip 1992). Laura worked professionally in the arts, specialising in political avant-garde film and new technologies, before returning to her own practice in 2015. Since then she has been included in a number of high profile exhibitions, won the student award at Trinity Buoy Wharf (Jerwood) Drawing Prize 2018 and with a bursary from the Royal Female Art School gained an MA with Distinction in Fine Art from City & Guilds of London Art School in 2019. She lives and works in London.
